I Think We're Up To 45 But I'm Bad With Numbers

Our 45th (?!?) annual Summer Solstice Bonfire will be held on Friday afternoon and evening of the 21st of June 2019.

If you Facebook, I made an event there:
https://www.facebook.com/events/625633774576761/
(If you can't see, you probably need to be invited. Let me know.)

HELP, HELP, HELP always needed.
If you have a truck/trailer or any other extra space to haul burnables, I can load you up in Korbel. We can do it Saturday if that's easier. Let me know.

We should/hope to be at the beach by early afternoon and will need help hauling burn-ables from the houses to the road and from the road over the dunes to the beach. Strapping lads & lasses with strong backs are always welcome! Even if you think yourself as old and/or out of shape we can all drag a stick or two.
If you happen to still have your tree from the Winter Holidays (Christmas, Yule, etc.) or other dry wood (without nails or other hardware, please) bring it to add to the bonfire.
Directions:
Same spot as usual:
Go across the Samoa Bridge from Eureka and when you get to the
other side make a Left and head South for just over 1 mile. If you get to
where the sign says, "DIVIDED ROAD" you are there. Park carefully and walk
due west out to the ocean and you will find us.
LOOK FOR US. We hope to have kites flying for signals.
If any of you need directions as to said location or what ever just message or give a call 707-362-5263 (d'har's cell).
Feel free to invite friends, but as this is not a public event! Please
invite only those who will enjoy this Celebration in the proper Spirit.
Please Bring:
Your Yule/XMas/Holiday trees for the Bonfire. If you happen to still have
your tree from the Winter Holidays (Christmas, Yule, etc.) bring it to add
to the bonfire.
WE NEED WOOD!
We need other dry wood (without nails or other hardware, please) as well, more wood = bigger fire!
Flowers and greenery to decorate wreaths/baum. This gets better every year!
PLEASE BRING:
*********** Basic fire fighting equipment: shovels, rakes, buckets,
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS etc. ********
*************** This is important. Bring what you have. ****************
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!
& PLEASE BRING:
Something to sit on, blankets, chairs etc.
Food and drink, enough to share if you can. There always seems to be plenty!
A suggestion for potlucking: let's plan on eating around 6:30-7. This is just to make it a little easier to organize and clean up.
A folding table if you have one to help accommodate said food.
Flashlights
Remember to have:
A warm coat or sweater, perhaps a hat.
A garbage bag or two. Remember the goal to "Always Leave a Site Cleaner Than When You Got There."
Regular beach stuff, remember it can get cold later on. A flashlight is a great help in getting back to the car.
Shovels and buckets to make a sand castle or two. We have had some very nice ones in the past.
Cameras & Camcorders. There have been some Grand photos taken at past Bonfires.
Instruments.
Games. Toys.
Kites.
********* ******** N.B. Important! ********** ************
Bring 36 ft of "ribbon" for each person. The easiest way to do this is to get 12 yards of CHEAP COTTON CLOTH and tear it down the length at about 3 to 4" wide. In the past we just had folk tie them but these tangle badly and poly or acetate fabrics melt.
This is for the "Sommer Baum" (think "MayPole" and you've got the idea.)
If one must go for one or the other then going without the knots is the more important of the considerations. One length of fabric will make a LOT of ribbons. If there is a choice... get bright festive colours.
Come and have fun and celebrate the turning of the season.
See you soon.
